THE COLE HARD TRUTH
Launching "Ever Stronger"
After 24 years in coaching, 18 as a collegiate head strength coach, I have launched my twofold "Ever Stronger!" consulting - personal workout programs, and clinics for school S&C programs. MORE
A football high: out-physical the opponent
Our six-man team, in its first two games, brought back memories of dominating wins over big powers in college football by demonstrating how an off-season strength and conditioning program pays off. Never mind it wasn't Nebraska or Texas; satisfaction still runs high over a job well done Feb-to-Aug leading to success in the fall. HERE'S HOW

Our LL Rockies are rockin
April 2, 2008
The Colorado Rockies went on an amazing winning streak to end the National League regular season and Division Playoffs last year and reach the World Series. We're the Rockies, too, in our Little League, and after the opening day loss we are on a streak of our own - two in a row!Ý
We won the second game by a
football score, 14-7, and then prevailed 11-6 in our last game. I hope
we can keep the streak going and get some press coverage, since the
local sports editor's son is one of our players. As long as there isn't
an article on some bonehead managing moves, that would be great.
Ý
We
are getting into a rotation with our pitchers and starting to show some
good things at the plate after struggling to hit in the opener. If we
can clean up our fielding mistakes and continue to get a little bit
better each time out, we could end up being a pretty tough bunch to
beat. Can you tell I've been around coaching all my life?
As a strength coach, I never got to say things like that at a post-game press conference. But when it comes to cliches, I can throw the high, hard one, too. Of course, Little League doesn't have press conferences, but post-game blogs are a good avenue for coach-speak as well.Ý
The difference is, the thing about being a strength coach was that the you seldom, if ever, get blamed for a loss. As a Little League manager, I guess I am just going have to get used to the heat, which is usually measured in decibels of parents' voices seated in the stands.Ý Thankfully, the wonderful Rockies' parents have been very patient and kind.
